NGAT Test Prep verbal question: six pictures, the child chooses the one that does not belong

Inside the app

Home screen with a grade picker and the Verbal, Nonverbal and Quantitative practice areas
Nonverbal question: a grid of shapes with one missing cell and the answer choices
Explanation screen showing the correct picture and the rule in two steps
Tests screen with a short mixed session, battery rehearsals and a timer switch
Parent report with first-attempt results by skill for the verbal and nonverbal areas

Who is it for?

  • Parents whose district screens with the Naglieri General Ability Tests (NGAT) in kindergarten through grade 5.
  • Families who want a child to know the three question formats before test day, without drilling answers.
  • Teachers and tutors who need short, picture-based reasoning practice by grade.
  • Spanish-speaking families: the app’s instructions and explanations are also in Spanish.

What does it do?

Three ways to think

  • Verbal: find the picture that does not share the concept of the other five.
  • Nonverbal: discover how shapes change across a grid and complete it.
  • Quantitative: work out number relationships, sequences and visual equations.
  • Nine practice skills, three per area, from “Category & function” to “Visual equations”.

Practice by grade

  • Choose kindergarten through grade 5 and start a short session.
  • Younger children can tap Listen to hear a question read aloud.
  • Thousands of practice and rehearsal questions; similar questions are kept apart so each session brings something new.
  • After an answer, a step-by-step explanation shows how the rule works.

Rehearse a full test

  • Form A and Form B for every test and grade: 40 questions each, with different questions in the two forms.
  • Optional timer: 30 minutes per test for kindergarten–grade 2 and 35 minutes for grades 3–5, with a break between tests.
  • Rehearse one area or all three in a row; move back, skip a question or mark it for review.
  • A badge shows which rehearsals your child has already taken. A quick mixed session is there for shorter days.

For parents

  • Parent reports by reasoning area and skill, and every completed session to look back on.
  • Review mistakes and try them again.
  • Up to three local learner profiles with saved progress.
  • Reports and settings sit behind a parent check.

What makes it different?

All three NGAT tests in one app

Verbal, Nonverbal and Quantitative practice share one grade setting, one history and one parent report, so you can see which format needs attention.

Rehearsals sized like the real test

Each rehearsal form has 40 questions with an optional 30- or 35-minute timer by grade, the same length and limits MHS lists for each NGAT test.

No account, works offline

Every question and picture ships inside the app. There is no sign-up, and progress stays on the device.

Explanations a child can follow

Each answer choice has its own reason, and the explanation names the rule in a sentence your child can say back.

What is free and what is paid?

Free

  • Ten new practice questions a day, in any reasoning area and grade.
  • The explanation after every practice question.
  • A worked example for each of the three areas.
  • Learner profiles, Listen read-aloud and the Spanish interface.

With an in-app purchase

  • Unlimited practice in every area and grade.
  • Form A and Form B full-length rehearsals, with optional timers.
  • Quick mixed sessions across the three areas.
  • Practice of missed questions and the full parent report.

Questions people ask

Is NGAT Test Prep the official NGAT test?

No. It is an independent practice app from Neobile LLC with original questions. It does not give the official tests, and its results describe practice in the app, not an NGAT score or a placement prediction.

Which grades does it cover?

Kindergarten through grade 5. You choose the grade, and practice, rehearsal forms and timer lengths follow it: 30 minutes per test for kindergarten–grade 2 and 35 minutes for grades 3–5.

Does it work offline, and is anything uploaded?

It works offline: the questions and pictures are in the app. No account is needed, and progress for up to three learners is saved on the device.

What can my child do without paying?

Ten new practice questions a day in any area, with the explanation after each one, plus a worked example per area. Unlimited practice, the Form A and Form B rehearsals, mixed sessions, mistake practice and the parent report need an in-app purchase.

Is it in Spanish?

Yes. The interface, instructions and explanations are available in English and Spanish, so a Spanish-speaking parent can follow along.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. NGAT Test Prep has phone and tablet layouts and needs iOS 17.0 or later.

What is the difference between Form A and Form B?

They are two full-length rehearsal forms for every test and grade, each with 40 questions, and they use different questions. A badge shows which ones your child has taken, so a second rehearsal is not a repeat.
